Wolf

There are about 200 wolves in Estonia, divided between 20-25 packs. The wolves are distributed almost evenly over Estonia, but they occur mostly in the biggest wilderness areas. Footprints of the wolves can be seen in all biggest protected areas in Estonia.

In winter it is interesting to track the wolves in snow, discovering a lot about their habits, prey etc. From August to February it is possible to hear howling of the wolves. The packs with young wolves are especially vocal in autumn. We will try to track the wolves and listen to the howling pack during our autumn mammal tour.
